  • Our token launch press release went out before the token actually existed, here's what we learn

Not asking for advice, just sharing something we learned the hard way in case it saves someone else the headache.

We had our launch date locked in, built the whole marketing push around it, then pushed the actual smart contract deployment back three days for a last-minute audit fix. Nobody updated the announcement timeline. So our release went out on the original date, weeks before the token actually existed to trade.

Result: confused community, a few people asking if it was a scam since nothing was tradeable, and by the time the real launch happened, the news had already gone stale. We basically burned our own launch moment.

What we're doing differently next time:

Lock the release date to the actual deployment, not the planned one, with a buffer built in for exactly this kind of delay.

Have someone specifically responsible for pulling or updating the release if the timeline shifts, not assuming whoever wrote it will remember.

Treat the announcement and the technical launch as one linked event, not two separate checklists that can drift apart from each other.

The bigger lesson honestly: a token launch press release is only useful if it's tied to something real happening at the time it goes out. A well-written release with bad timing does more harm than no release at all.

Anyone else had a launch go sideways over something dumb like this, timing, wording, anything?
